Synopsis

When Stella's father passes away, she channels her grief into a fast marriage to Stephen, an upper class man with whom she has nothing in common. After their first child Laurel is born, the couple splits and she takes on raising the girl as a single mother. But as Laurel grows into a spirited young woman, Stella realizes Laurel could have a better life with her father and make a selfless sacrifice to send her to live with her father in New York.
