Synopsis
At the height of the 1850s gold rush, Mary Rutledge arrives in San Francisco's Barbary Coast neighborhood and quickly becomes a kept woman of the richest (and most devious) man in town, Louis Chamalis. As Mary helps Chamalis run his crooked gambling hall, she eventually becomes fed up with his controlling ways, especially after meeting an honest man and falling in love.
